Photographs are a depiction of an instance. In this exhibition, images are captured without preconception, a mere reaction to visual and emotional expression unique to a particular moment. Instance follows the work of two photographers, Kamthorn Paowattanasuk and Montre Kumsiri, whose passions lie in photography and exploration.
For Paowattanasuk and Kumsiri, photography is an ongoing dialogue between the artists and their environment. A process of negotiation, which in their view should be simple and free, without complexity or predetermination. Both artists are constantly on a photographic journey capturing experiences en route. Each image is complete, representing a totality of that moment in time. It is a result of an aesthetic judgment, influenced by the artists’ cultural context but free from any conceptualization.
